Default ECT how hot is TOOOO hot????

Well my truck has been running alot hotter in the 100*+ temps... But it is wierd... It will sit and idle all day long with the AC on high and run at 200* basically where the fans regulate it. While driving down the highway it runs at 197* which is also fine. Now if i am in stop and go traffic it will get to 215-220. Today on the way home I was beating on it to see how hot it would get, well when i pulled into my drive it was 224*.... So i left it running in park in my driveway and the temps came back down to 200*....

So i tried pulling some timing, basically adding more the ECT and IAT tables, that helped a little bit but it still gets hot in slow driving... I have a 28" rad with homemade efans (12 and 14) with a shroud... So i am just thinking about ordering some 05 efans and 34 radiator...

Any opinions?

Same thing happens in my truck. I can sit in a 100* parking lot for 1 solid hour idling with A/C on high and temperature not climb over 190 but stop and go it will climb to 205-210

Try the 05 efans and radiator and go from there if you still have problems. Just my opinion

Oh and it is not the verter causing it because i bypassed the radiator. But i am thinking that big *** 40k cooler sitting right in front with 160-180* fluid following threw it is not helping the situation either...

I don't think anything under 230 is serious.

I was thinking the same when i put on my 40k. After driving around in 100+ deg heat the engine temp wont go up. But my fans do push alott of air lol

You have a stock thermostat? I had a 160 and a 180 and during the summer my truck would try to overheat on me all the time (with 34" radiator, and with both factory e-fans and a factory clutch fan). As soon as I went back to stock it's all fixed. I think the coolant was not spending enough time in the radiator to cool down properly.

The PCM will tell you when its to hot. DING DING DING... and if you ignore it you'll soon be in limp mode.
