I am looked to install some electric fans on my truck. What do you guys think is the best setup? Is there really that big of a difference? Thanks for the help.

It basically comes down to visual appeal and budget.

u dont NEED to but thats the best way IMO. u can get an external relay that turns them on when your radiator get warm enough. they come with a lil probe that u place on your radiator.

i dont remember who make them tho.

well a tune seems like the best/cleanest/most reliable way. I guess ill get a tune before hand. It has more benifits anyway. Boomers, how do you like your HPtuner? Is it hard to use, and how do you see what results you are receiving? thanks for the results

talk to allen nelson. he can send you a wiring harness along with a custom tune. a good tune will do WAY more than any electric fans.

Here's a few shots of my 05 efans for ya. It's a little more pricey since you have to use a 34" radiator for fitment, but you also get the benefit of the increased cooling capacity of the larger rad. Combined with the Nelson harness the setup appears factory.

they look clean budhayes, how much were they, and how did you turn them on? Did you install a bigger alternator with them?

Thanks SBChvy. I got the fans for about $200 plus shipping from G&R Auto Parts (new take-offs), already had the PCM tuned by PCMforLess so I just had them update my tune to accomodate for the fans, got the Nelson harness, and got a new radiator from the Radiator Barn for around $260ish. I actually did the larger alternator prior to the efan install, but it's not necessary. tdrumm is running the same efan setup with the factory 105 amp alt. (I got the alternator from G&R also...can't provide a direct link because they aren't a sponsor)
