Dynatech Vortex Cone Inserts
I've looked on LS1Tech and here and didn't see much about them. I am contemplating trying something on my truck. I really like the sound of my open cutout, but with the long tubes and aftermarket magnaflow cats, it is way freakin loud, much louder than my crew cab was with the same setup but stock cats.
I was looking at the dynatech cone inserts, and they claim to lower exhaust noise levels by about 2 decibles. How much is 2 decibles, I just want to slightly quiet up my exhaust, but not so much that it sounds like my exhaust thru the muffler. I am thinking about trying one, and fabbing it up to an exhaust flange so that it would still be easily removable, but not fall out on its own.

It may sound strange, but a gain of 3 dB is considered to be twice as loud.
It's hard to grasp the decibel system.
If you can afford the inserts , try them out. your truck will not be quiet.
I was looking into them too, but the $ was too high and I had never heard of anyone trying them.
BTW, I used to go to SPL comps with the old truck. 143.7 db was my best!

Larry, I haven't seen those before, just the ones you put into your collectors.
Thanks for the info.
Mcmastercarr part # 9255T631 (?can't link?)
16 Ga. 1/8" round hole perforated steel 36" x 40" for $67.xx
I was going to fab up some of my own with this stuff.
Enough material for several inserts.
