Earls plumbing sells some insulation tubing that you can run your plug wires through. It's good to 2000deg, your plug wire can literally lay on the primary and be ok.

Thats what I have tried. Maybe not Earl's specifically, can't remember the brand names. Expensive though. The wires won't burn/melt but they will become brittle and break down eventually failing. The last plug wire replacement was during my cam install. The wire was still working (in a boot) but as soon as I touched it to remove it basically snapped in half. Even tying them down I think this will eventually happen. To close to the heat. For #5 and #7 may be a combination of tying down with a heat boot might be the ticket to longevity?

They aren't advertised as equal length/tuned. Don't believe they are. As negative switches stated, believe its just to get over the steering stem. Believe these headers were originally an SLP design but couldn't get them smog legal and sold them off?

Nobody else does that. Guess they wanted to be Pioneers in their field.

Yep, stock wires. #5 and #7 currently have MSD tape on them, as well, for a little added protection.

I just loosely zip tied the stock #5 and #7 plug wires to draw them closer together. This moved them away from the headers and has been working for me for about 6 months now.
