Default Duals: Need an X/H crossover?

I just had my custom done and I noticed the guys didn't put an X or H crossover - just straight pipes from the LT's back. (see pix in my sig) Its nice work, but never NOT seen dual with the crossovers. DO I NEED THEM and WHY? R/

OK...so its better but not necessary? Scavenging does what? Also, what order: Cats - crossover or vise versa? R/

X pipe behind cats but as far foward as you can get it. Scavenging acts to pull exhaust out of the ports, increasing flow, as I understand it.

when i had true duals it was too raspy for me and too much in cab noise. the x-pipe got rid of all the resonance but still is really loud at WOT.

i wouldnt have duals without some sort of crossover pipe. an xpipe will get rid of some if not all of the rasp. it also helps equalize the exhaust flow
