Default The drone has got to go

Alright, so I just installed a Magnaflow muffler and tailpipe on my truck and it drones like crazy. What are some things to try to rid this? This is the muffler I went with http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-12590/ It's located in the stock location. Everything is stock and runs up to adapter pipes which bring the factory 2.75" up to 3" where it meets into the muffler, then 3" single pipe all the way back exiting out the factory location. I've heard about angling the tailpipe down towards the ground aswell as angling it so it exits level but what else can I try? Initially it sounded WAY too loud for my taste so I had a buddy drive it around abit so I could hear it from outside and it sounds pretty good but on the inside the drone just makes it sound irritating and really loud

Was it my post in the 8-lug section?

The thing is I don't think you'll ever be able to fully eliminate in cab drone when switching to any aftermarket muffler. But I think I did a decent job knocking it down with my setup (see pic) on my 6.0L.

Im actually going to take some measurements and see if I can get a 12" bullet in front of my two 16" muffs, though Im almost convinced its not going to get any quieter.

Im also thinking about sticking some dynamat to the sheet metal to the underside of the cab right above the mufflers to see if that will help any.......anybody tried this?

weld dumps on the muffler that point toward the ground, that will help. Also, you can weld in an resonator or glasspack before the muffler.

I dont know man.....the 22" magnaflow I just cut off was dumped right after the muffler and it was nasty loud in the cab. Dumping it makes the exhaust note resonate off of the ground and reflect right back up. Might just be a magnaflow thing though....I dont know.

I have a bullet infront of my Borla Muffler dumped infront of the axle and I don't get almost no drone in the cab. As soon as I open the cut out to hear the Bullet all you hear is drone.

Well mine is a 6.0l so it has dual exhaust all the way into the muffler than single out. Pretty sure I have factory resonators already before the muffler. I'll double check this after work.

my corsa had some big drone to it, and i didnt like it at all, i ended up putting a dynomax bullet before the muffler, so i have 2 mufflers, and the drone is gone, and its so much nicer as well.
