Default Don't Flame Me.....Rockers

I know this has been brought up many times, and I know there are mixed opinions, but I didn't really find what I wanted to know by searching. I want to add a little performance, and as much as I would love to get a different cam, it's not going to happen. I just don't want to tear into my engine. Rockers are a little more extensive than I would like to do. Buy my question is this, if i absolutely cannot go with a cam, what are your opinion on the 1.8 Rockers? Some can be had fairly cheap, and in some posts on here it shows some pretty good gains, around 20hp. I already have longtubes, ORY, and a tune. I thought maybe this would be a good mod. Let me hear you opinions.

it depends . . . . some rockers will not clear the valve covers, or the heads . . . what brand did you have in mind?

Not worth it IMO. You're paying a lot of money for a little tiny gain.

Just keep on thinking you'd like more power and use that money on a set of tires when you wear them out in 60k miles or so. Even a mail order tune for 93 octane will get you double what the rockers would IMO.

I'm with them. there's no reason to get rockers unless you just have a badass engine that stock rocks can't handle. If you want to spend money on something get a cai, Tune, Efans, shift kit or something like that.
If minimal gain is your interest you could just by a tornado for your intake and another for the exhaust.

Well when i searched i found a lot of information saying that people got like 20hp from rockers, it was even in a tech article. I've had a CAI before and some other stuff that supposidly boosts performance but they were pretty much a joke, just thought i'd check these out. Hell SUmmit has a set for 350 bucks

Is that an article for an LSX engine or a GenI engine?

Edit: on a GenI the roller rockers would actually increase the lift a lil and free up a bit of restriction, so you would notice a little gain. but on an lsx engine it already uses roller lifters and i believe already have a 1.8:1 ratio so there wouldn't be much of a performance increase. The only reason you would need to change them is to increase stability and strength. I'm sure i'll be corrected if i'm wrong, but that sounds about right.
