Default Diff. between SS 6.0 and other 6.0?

Is there any difference between the 6.0 in the SS trucks and the regular 6.0 in the 3/4 or 1 ton trucks? Thinking of doing the 4L80E/6.0 test but am just checking out my different angles.

The only difference is the LQ9 6.0 out of the ss has flat top pistons and a higher compression ratio 10.4:1 I thank. The LQ4 6.0 out of the 3/4 ton has dished pistons and a 9.4:1 CR.

The LQ9 also has much better rods. They are deburred, shot peened, and bushed floating pins.

There's also some cast iron headed 6.0's running around (99-2000 LQ4's)...avoid those like crabs!

If forced induction or nitrous are in your plans the LQ9's higher compression will hinder your efforts.

Yes - the lower compression gives you more headroom to work with.

If you plan on installing a new reciprocating assembly anyway, then get the LQ9 and sell the old stuff as upgrades.

I Own A 2003 Chevrolet SIlverado SS With The LQ9 GenIII 6.0L V8 Engine And Thers Alot Of Mods That You Can Do With It. Besides With Just 345Hp Thats Pretty Impressive In A Extended CAb Truck, I Mean I Can Hold Off Ford Lightnings Until Around 73-76Mph. So Id Say That LQ9 Engine To Modify. . .Worse Gas Milage bc Of The Higher Compresstion, But We Cant Spend all Our Time Trying To Save The World. And YES Thers A MAJOr Difference Between The 6.0L 300Hp, And The 6.0L With 345Hp, And YOu Knoe Exactly What That Is Bc I Own A 345Hp 6L And A 300Hp 6.0L And Thers A MAJOR DIFFERENCE And That Catagory Would Be Plain And Simple Ol. . .. . . . . . .GRUNT!!!!
