can you mix water with the new red coolant gm is using?
Just changed the t stat in the dark and didnt bother thinking about how much coolant I would loose.

also whats the gap on plugs on a 5.3

Yes, should be mixed with H20(50/50)...I believe the gap is .060.

is there a draincock on the radiators, mine is a z71 and the bottom of the rad is covered
or should I just flush it through the bottom exit hose

Hey, Chris, the drain on your radiator should be on the driver's side. There's a drain tube that can be lowered when you open the draincock.

Also, as mentioned, use distilled water instead of tap water. The Dex-cool can be contaminated pretty easily and will turn to sludge in your truck. It's good stuff but there are some precautions to keep it from getting contaminated.

I see the draincock and have used it several times during cam swaps and radiator swaps, but....Where is this tube you speak of? Mine no gotty one.

i got tired of paying $10/gallon and switched over to the green stuff. i dont really need 5year coolant.

Yeah I found out the hard way about not using distilled water with dex cool. I had a damn overheating problem for about 2 months before I figured out that my radiator was plugged up with all kinds of **** from using the water out of my faucet. It was weird when I bought my new radiator it didn't have the draincock on it but the one that originally came with my truck did.
