Lots of tuning problems, lean condition, and a couple degrees of timing to cause some KR.

In other words ... this isn't a good mod.

I agree. The computer is calibrated to meter the air on the characteristics of the stock screened Mass Airflow Sensor. The screen stabilizes and polarizes the air flowing across the sensor wires. Without the screen the air is too turbulent to be measure with any accuracy.

I wish I had a better picture, but the truck intakes are curved, while Corvette intakes are straight tubes right into the throttle body which is why I think they don't have a screen....and no turbulence.

Can the computer be tuned for the removal of the screen? I need to know because mine is removed and I'm ordering my tune Monday. Thanks

Correct!!! And thats why when GM started looking for performance for the 405HP Z06's they didn't put in a screened MAF and actually picked up a few horses. The screen is supposed to straighten the incoming air and remove turbulence to flow around the bends in the trucks intakes but the corvette being straight doesn't need it therefore more incoming airflow thus more HP...Zed

I have said this many times in here all you have to do is put it on a dyno and prove to me that you gain anything other than potential problems by removing the screen. And don't give me any **** about seat of the pants feeling.
