2001 denali suv, awd, 6.0L. Truck seems to bind when turning sharp like into a parking space in parking lot. Seems to only happen after truck is good and hot after driving down highway for a while. It doesn't happen all the time. It's not the normal feeling you get when you turn and the truck tends to scrub some speed. There is a definate clicking sorta noise from front end, as if the front diff was completely locked up. It will do it if backing up with steering wheel turned sharp. Sharper you turn steering wheel, more clicking and binding, truck will come to a complete stop quickly. Sometimes it works just fine, not a trace at all. I have the stock size original tires, and nothing is scrubbing anywhere. It is definately something in drivetrain. Been to dealer 2 times and they cant get it to do it. I leave dealer and drive 30 miles home, and it does it when pulling into parking spot at walmart...only on sharp turns, normal driving around town you can't notice. Just at walking speeds. It's not brakes or any abs pulsating.....any ideas?

This isn't any help, but my 01 z71 does this when i'm in auto 4wd. It feels like it doesn't unlock the front axles when it doesn't need them. It's just like having it in 4hi, but like your problem it comes and goes

 

Time to service the Tcase,that should do it.

 

they say it isn't the transfer case....yeah right. seems like it's coming from the front diff....clicking noise when it actually does it.

 

my denali does the same **** when im reversing and cutting the wheel all the way to one side or the other

 

I have seen these AWD tcases need fresh fluid after 50K miles.Go to the dealer get the correct fluid and Get'r done.


I wont say it will fix your problem but it's good to do it if you have a few miles on.
