Default DBW TB as a E-cutout?

As I was looking at a picture of a electric cutout, I realized that it looks an awful lot like the spare DBW TB I have sitting on my bench. A 78 mm TB is slightly bigger than 3", so size wise it would be perfect. I'm sure it's not a standard three bolt exhaust flange pattern, but It shouldn't be too hard to make an adapter.

Do you think it would survive the exhaust temps? I would be installing it just in front of the muffler.

Does any one know how much voltage a DBW TB wants to see when it is wide open?

thats a pretty good Idea Im not sure how it would work though, I bet the wiring would be a pain, but you may be able to get it like the new Z06's where it would open up at WOT.

I can only imagine the plastic parts of it melting over time and causing you issues down the road.

Yeah, that is what I was afraid of.

that's a very good idea. it's just the wireing part and having it last would be the problem. (with the heat and all). i'm sure you'll figure out something.

I dont think the TB was ment to do that. E Cutout motors are made for that enviorment.

Maybe you could make a heat shield or thermo covering for the throttle actuator/motor. The other plastic items will be removed and plugged (tps and whatever else is there) and wiring should be a piece of cake. Just get a schematic and find which pins are used to move the throttle blade, and wire a switch into them. I think it's a cool idea.

even if you welded the holes shut i still think it would leak bad out of the sides. You would have to find a way to seal the perimeter....

What holes are you talking about? I would have to make a gasket, and I would use the three bolt holes to bolt it to the cut out. There aren't any other holes that need to be addressed.
