Default DBW to cable throttle swap - don't have to do the intake, right?

Guys, I've read through a bunch of threads that talk about swapping a Drive by wire engine in place of a cable throttle body engine. Most people talk about swapping the entire intake when they do this. I came across this thread (post 7) and saw that BADMOFO was alluding to the fact I would be able to just swap throttle bodies with some modification?

"You can use a cable throttle body on a DBW intake, you just have to insert the threaded bungs into the manifold where the cable bracket mounts, as it takes 3 bolts and the manifold only has threads for 1. I ran mine with just one for a few days until I could epoxy some threaded inserts into the manifold.....You may also have to change the driverside fuel rail and balance tube, I did. I also had to get vacuum for the fuel rail mounted regulator from the other side of the manifold. No biggies."

Just want to make sure I got that right as this would be nice to not have to swap over the entire intake and instead just do the throttle body. This is a 2001 4.8 getting a 2006 6.0 from a yukon Denali by the way (which I guess from this had the 4L65E - so i don't need to do a flexplate swap?).

Thanks ahead of time,
Andrew

You are correct, the motor in my '99 is a DBW 6.0l from an '04. The holes are there for the bracket, but there is only the one insert. I didn't have the bracket, so I just built my own using the 4.3 bracket.

And the 4l65 flexplate is the same as the 4l60.

For some reason I think one of the DBW intakes I've had didn't even have the places to put the threaded bungs. I have two to look at right now so I'll go check.

**edit**

Must've been smoking crack when I looked at it. The places are there on both.

Why don't you just use the intake from the 4.8 and forget about all of this extra work? Just swap out the long blocks?

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear (I have a tendency of assuming people can read my mind over this internet thingy). I am swapping a 06 LQ4 longblock that has DBW in place of my 01 4.8 that has a cable throttle body. I figured it would just be easier to swap just the throttle body from the 4.8 to the 6.0 vs than the whole intake. Is that a bad assumption?

I know what your intent is, I just think it is easier to reuse your 01 intake and just swap out the long blocks. There's more differences than just the TB. 06s did not have EGR and the intake manifold has no provisions for it so unless you have already deleted it, you'll need the 01 intake. Plus the 06 has a returnless fuel rail where as your 01 is return style. Your fuel rail could be swapped over to the 06 intake, but it just seems like a bunch of unecessary work since all the truck intakes are the same performance wise.

Just swapping the intake is probably the easiest thing to do. Unplug a couple sensors/fuel line, zip some bolts out and it's off.
