I'm getting pretty good at swapping engines

Almost got the entire swap done today. If I hadnt of run into an issue of the valley cover bolts striping out and having to spend a couple hours on that I may have finished tonight. Luckily I got them out without damaging the cover and replaced all the bolts. Right now I have the 5.3 bolted up and just need to put the passenger exhaust back on and the accessories and im finished....and retune for the 5.3.

I am waiting until I get my 5.3 in and working before I tear down my 408. Hopefully I will be done with the 5.3 before lunch tomorrow which leaves me plenty of time. I did pull the plugs though and they look fine.

This is odd, rust colored dust on the flexplate bolts... couldnt find anything on the trans though...

That rusty dust would be steel from your torque converter, where the cover engages the back of the crank. It must've been moving around in there a little bit. Were the converter to flexplate bolts a little loose?
