Would I be able to tell if the converter is ballooned or would I need to send it off?

Everything works fine and no abnormal sounds so I think the pistons are fine.

I don't know. It's just that I heard that's a possible cause of thrust bearing damage.

Yea man, it sucks.

Im not convinced torque converter lockup caused this though. There was plenty of movement between the torque converter and trans when I seated the converter and had to slide it back to mount to the flexplate...

That would be one thing to check then-see if you have any movement now between them. If not, fill it with helium and have a party.
