I have seen a couple of dyno graphs comparing this, the overall gain compared to full exhaust was 3HP. However in spots it picked up 15HP in the lower rpms mostly for whatever reason. Some areas in the rpm though it lost 10-15 HP over full exhaust. These tests were on vehicles that had stock exhaust as well with minor modifications. Some people say it feels completely different with the cutout open though, I personally feel no difference with my truck

depends on pipe sizing, and placement and number of cutouts...

I actually only gained about 2hp and lost tq on the dyno when I had headers with dual cutouts at the collector, but it made about a .3 difference in e/t... goes once again to show, dyno numbers arent everything....

Heh! I want one just for the jerks who think folks at a traffic light want to hear their twin 12" 1000 watt subs full volume. Or the Harley guy with straight pipes, no helmet and ear plugs that will not let it idle. The hard part would be aligning them up for it. Can't win.

my truck is faster TOP END with the cut out open and faster LOW end with it closed , i ran it at the track and i dropped a tenth with the cutout open , but it just depends on everyones exhaust set up ,

If you buy an electric cutout don't go wtih QTP. They are complete junk. Get a DMH cutout or if you can spend the money a Doug's Cutout.

my QTP has fallen apart twice all ready... ive noticed that its just screws backing out... ha.. other than that the motor is still kicking... ha..

on my v6 firebird the cutout was worth 2-3 tenths in the 1/4.. i havent tested it on the 6.0 truck but i know it pulls harder up top with it opened.. you can feel it... im running pacesetter longtubes and ory with a stock catback where i have the cutout midway between the y and muffler...

DMH is what I also recommend...

I have heard the better low end with cut out closed and top end with it open...I know people who will open it mid track...I run either all open or closed and besides the noise never really noticed and difference.
