Damn, that sucks Greg. Mine backed out with a 18" breaker bar and a BIG hammer only. I took the little inspection cover off the trans bellhousing and jambed a 10" 3/8" extension up in there until the flexplate wouldn't move anymore.

I've also heard of people wedging the bar against the ground or something solid and bumping the starter but, you didn't hear that from me.

On my car I used to drop the starter and put a BIG screwdriver through a hole in the flexplate to keep it from spinning but, it always kinda scared me because you put alot of stress on one point of the flexplate.

Good Luck.

Yea, I have heard about the bumping idea, don't think I want to do that. I may try the extension or screw driver trick.

Take a spark plug out and hook up the deal (I'm not sure what its called) that lets you hook up an a compressor and pressurize the cylinder. Then try a impact wrench or a regular wrench with a cheater bar on it. It may or may not work but its worth a try.

Boys I know exactely what you are talking about I put an SLP pulley on my 4.8 and then swapped it over to my LS1 when I installed it. I got a super heavy duty strap wrench and wedged it against my A/C compressor and used a 3/4 drive ratchet and pulled untill I saw molecules before they would come loose. The under side of the washer of the bolt has lock tight on it. I had a mechanic at the GM garage tell me about bumping the starter over.
