Default Crank angle wont learn?

04 2500hd 4x4 ext cab 6.0 all stock
I got a nelsons tune.....this one is the 2nd one--the 1st shifted too hard. This tune shifts perfectly.

I STILL can not get the crank angle learned---Allen suspected it was a bad pcm---this one is doing the same thing.

We are using a Mac Mentor to attempt the learn. The 1st one was attempted with the mentor and a Tech II.

What's the deal guys? has anyone had this problem? The Mac Mentor goes through the steps, tells you to rev past 4k --does not learn.

We tried to clear the code, it set itself immediately back, I also tried to clear the code with the engine not running and it still comes right back on.

I'm thinking there is a software problem?

It's a brand new truck with 9100 miles. The factory pcm is fine, and learns the code fine. I relearned the crank angle on the factory pcm 3 times in a row a few hours ago without a hiccup..

see that's bs ...you pay $600+ for a pcm and it dosent work like it should.

Regardless I need to wait and see what Allen says---this is pcm #2....I may try again tomorrow but either way its unacceptable. I have faith in him...

You might have to replace your crank sensor. If you have a Chilton's manual, follow the steps it outlines for checking the sensor. It's located in the block above the starter, so it's not the easiest sensor to get at.

Also, what code is it throwing? P0335 and/or P0336? I got a new sensor for $50, GM part # 12560228

I'll have to pull the code again when I get back to the shop. Like I said above the stock pcm learns the angle fine and once its learned no problem, so the sensor is fine.

I'm starting to bet it's a software problem....
