Default Couple of questions on L33

I've got a L33 sitting in my garage that I'm getting ready to swap into another car. This one has 19K miles from a 2005 Silverado

However, since I purchased this, I've found a LS1 w/50K miles, local to me.

I'm wondering if there are any advantages/improvements to the L33, since it is 5 yrs newer then the LS1? I'm not after big hp numbers, so the displacement is not as big of factor as much as reliability is.

My next question. I would like to check a couple of the bearings in whichever engine I pick to make sure there is no abnormal wear. Is it okay to loosen one main bearing and leave the other ones untouched, or do they all need to be loosened and then retorqued. Is there a better item to check for abnormal wear? In the case of a low mileage engine, I think it would be best to leave most of the internal components untouched if possible?

No.
The LS1 has the same basic block and more cubes. All else the same I would choose a LS1/6 over the L33.

What part of the country are you in?

Only thing I can think of off hand is that the L33 has coated pistons.
Not sure about the LS1?
I'll check my L33 notes later.

The LS-1 usually has a shallower oil pan, and a lowerer profile intake manifold that makes it easier to swap into cars.

I was part of a swap of a 4.8 4L60 into a 79 Malibu, and my friend had to get a cowl hood to clear the tall truck intake manifold. Also the the oil pan was 1/2 to low for comfort, but he ran out of money to fix that imediately.
