Default Could this be a transmission problem?

Hey guys,

I have a 2000 Silverado 5.3L with the 4L60E Transmission. The truck is completely stock with 114,000 miles.

Occationally when I have to come to a quick stop and go it feels like the transmission is not downshifting to 1st gear right away. Almost as if from the quick stop and go it did not have time to downshift itself. I will stop, then hit the gas and it will thump into first gear. Or I will come to a complete stop and feel the transmission kick down into first gear a second or two later.

I have never really owned a modern automatic transmission car (electronic automatic) so I don't know if this is normal or could lead to a potential problem down the road. Other than that, the transmission upshifts normally and smooth at part throttle or wide open throttle. This truck was regularly maintnanced according to the GM schedule.

Also, what is the normal lifespan for these transmissions?

Thanks very much in advance.

Ross

P.S. Rather than start a new thread I'll ask here. The truck idles at 500rpm is this normal?
