Default converter / tranny / dif issues . need input for the night.

had converter installed saturday, now today, i have no

A: Transmission?

B: Differential?

C: problem with converter/ other issues..?

d: none of the above?

which one is it, beats me, all i heard was a loud clunk when reversing out of my garage this morning, and now it just sits there and revs, kinda wants to move foward, but i really cant try, since the wall is right there

anyone experience this, give me some input,

Well, my first gues would be B which could lead toA and if not fixed properly will most likely cause C, but I could be completly wrong and that would make it D.

Seriously, sounds like B It just seems weird that it would do that when you put put it in reverse unles you reved it pretty hard or damaged it the night before.

Wow, bummer Take the inspection cover off the bell housing and see if the bolts holding the flywheel to the converter fall out. If not, your converter might be hosed. It being the only thing that changed, that's what I would guess, if everything else is bolted back up correctly. Good luck.

fast4.8

the truck dosent get reverse right now, but this morning i gave it a big rev and it sorta "grabbed", peeled out and then "ungrabbed". but giving it a normal amount of gas, it wont budge in R. In D 3 2 1 it will move foward a bit, what are symptoms of a bummed tranny? do i have those symptoms?

help me out here, if it was the converter/tranny, right now via atap, i am getting lots of misfires, lots, wonder why i get those..

i feel like my head is going to up.

i think right about now, i could use a beer or two to help to ease the pain.

i am going to do a search, i think i remember Colonel posting something about this awhile back. anybody remember read that thread?

hey mods, past a copy of this over in the drivetrain section, there's lots of knowledgable peeps there. thanks.

the diferential is easy to check, put it in gear and try to move while someone looks under your truck to see if the driveshaft is moving.

have you checked you tranny oil level? how many miles did you have on that new converter?

Sorry to hear that about your truck. Where did you get your converter installed?

thanks parish8, just went and checked, no driveshaft movement, so does that mean i could have fugged up both dif and tranny?

converter has about 25to 35miles, only a few wot's from 30 and up..

i also had someone tell me to see if my fluid changed when off to on, and the level does change.

Well, I guess the tranny is the problem then. L82gofast had a good idea. How many miles were on it? You know I have heard of someone that said they were getting codes when there converter went out, but I don't remember where or when. Sorry I'm not much help here. Didn't even think to tell you to check the driveshaft like parish8 said.

go check that inspection cover trick, i want to know what happend.

there is a 2" or so plug that just pops out of the bottom of the bell housing, look in the hole and you will see the converter and the ring gear, they should be bolted together, if they are not you could probably turn the converter with you finger while the ring gear stays still.

HOPEFULLY that is the problem, that is about the only thing that would be an easy fix. after that i would have to think converter or tranny.

I wonder if the converter was engaged properly. I put one in my old 355 S10 and didn't quite get it seated right. Turned the key and POP. Busted the pump in the tranny which results in NO movement.

The only thing is I think it would've went bad quicker if the converter wasn't installed properly but, you never know.

I'm going to put a copy of this in the Drivetrain section for ya and keep this post unlocked also.
