I have those same size tires (285/60/16, but on aftermarket rims) and they do hook well. My friend (crazyidiot4.8) also has a 4.8 but with the stock tires and at full throttle I get much less tire spin at a redlight.

Nothing major just a 4.10 gear with a posi, HPP3, Hypertech 160 thermostat, electric fans, custom ram air, took the screen out of the mass air, cut EGR, grinded throttle body stop, ported throttle body, 2-chamber flow with a custom cut-out, 2" drop shackels, and 18x8 Boyd Timeless 6, on 285/50/18 Yokohama S/T Type 1's. Tires are 11.5 inches wide and have a major contact patch! With the stock tires and the gear I could hit the rev limiter spinning, but with these tires that came to a hault. My 60' went from a 2.38 to a 2.09! Its also looking like im going to do cam, springs, and push rods in about 3 weeks

man, 4.10 gears have got to be great in a 4.8L, 3.42s and anywhere near close to stock tires i just dont think thats enough gearing to get a bolt on 4.8L moving quick (at least for an ext cab). when i get moving on the street, right off the line im not TOO bad, but then once i get going it seems like a turd till about 3000 - 3500 rpm

BradWlv:

What size rim/tire combo do you have? I have 255/50-16 on stock rims so that could be some of the reason for my driveability issues. Rims and new tires soon to come though.
