converter

wondering if a 3000 stall/converter would hook on the street and give any gain with a 4.56(maybe)and posi with 28 10.5w et drags. i am on motor now but will be going to gas again later. trying to figure out if it is worth buying a converter or not. if the 3000 would hook should i go bigger? i have a 2" drop on the truck now...do i need to get some trac bars even with the posi and gear? and info would be helpfull

I haven't heard of anyone flat out hooking on the street with a higher stall converter. I can launch pretty hard and not spin, but you have to ease into it until you get the tires moving. That's with 3.42s, not 4.56s....I plan for 3.90s real soon.

What times do you anticipate running N/A and on the spray?
The converter may not help as much off the line with the low gears(relative to a higher gear) but, it will help on the upshifts by keeping the motor at a higher rpm.
Let us know some times and it'll be easier to figure out what combo will be best. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

i wanan get close to the 13's on motor before i put the gas on. the rims and tires, gear and converter are just my first ideas. the cam and heads and all that are going to come later. i have seen people use 3500 stall but to me that just sounds like its to big. i mean even with the hypertech the rev limiter is only to 6200 and 3500 just seems like i will run out of gear in the 1/4 on gas
