oh man! sorry to hear it. That suuuuuuccckkkkkkkssss!!!! I have no clue if you can get around it; I've been warned to death about not pulling the cord out. What made you do it!?

From what I hear flashing the computer can be pretty expensive..like upwards of a couple hundred $$'s. Double check with other people here though, I could be off on that. That $ range is simply what I've been told.

Do you know anyone in a dealers service department? I'm sure it shouldn't cost you that much. Call around first.

apparently ,to one chevrolet service manager, they can't touch a GMC pcm, only GMC can. so that rules out 3/4 of houston area GM truck dealorships. and with the few GMC service dept's that knew anything about the process, i got a small spectrum of quotes...$80-$160. wonder how long it'll take to get in-n-out of the bay, $80/hr is kinda steep. and nope, i know no one in the service department so can't go that route. i did however devise a plan...get hired at a dealership, make some friends there in service, get the truck fixed, then quit. hmm, what if there's a way i can get my warranty to cover this, that'd be nice too, but how.

Dont say anything about the hypertech. Just say you lost battery power one day and after jumping it off, it just wasn't the same. If they say that it should not have an issue with a dead battery, thell them you agree and thats why its should be covered under warranty. Tell them to give you the most current flash updates as well.

what exactly does flashing the computer do? does it allow the computer to do the same stuff as the 2000+? the reason i ask is because i have a '99 and w/ the 2000+ you can turn off the headlights using the dome override button.

however, i have heard that if you do get the computer flashed than you have to send off the hypertech to have it updated, is that true? thanks yall.......

Getting the computer reflashed brings it back to the stock year programing with updates that would only apply to that year. You won't get 2000 tuning in a 1999 computer. Hypertech has two models of there programmer for 1999-2002. One is year and engine specific and one is just year specific and not engine. If you send your hypertech back, you will most likely recieve the year only specific model back at no charge if you get them to agree that you are the original owner. When you call, they will give you an RA # to confirm what your problem is. They did not aske for proof of purchase with mine, but I sent the reciept anyway.
