Who here is running the comp 212/218 low lift cam, and is this cam a good all around cam. I wanted to know some info and experiences, I have a 2005 LQ4 I am freshening up to install into my truck I will also be putting all the existing mods in my sig back with it, I do not want to change my trailblazer verter, my goals are low 14's high 13's on the motor and I am also looking to pass smog, I have read here the fuel mileage should be the same if not better because of the power to weight ratio "as said by bill aka trever1t"
thanks chris

with that cam and a 6.0oohhhh you will defiantly see 13's if not better, hirdlej has that setup and he is well pleased. yet to see dyno numbers or track times but they should be good
That will be a fun setup! have fun

i have it in my lil 4.8 and really like it...my friend has a 00 silvy 5.3 scsb with full bolt ons and tune and we race and from a dig i can just keep up with him but as soon as we hit about 50mph, forget it i just keep pullin...we raced on the highway from about 60 to 110 and i had alteast 6 lengths on him...i just dont have any low end...not because of the cam just because of the displacement...i would def. recommend this cam...lopes real hard in my 4.8...i mean im sure not as hard as others but just sittin at a light i get looks all the time...id say the power is really noticable at around 2500 and up...if i hold it at 4000 and stomp it, it will really snap ur neck...im really happy with it...

Being now that I've driven in 2 trucks with 6.0L's, they were on opposite ends of the spectrum. hirdlej's truck is a quick and witty '04 2wd rcsb and my buddy from work has an '05 lifted ccsb but guess what...they both have 218/224 camshafts which tells me something. It's an all around cam for low end AND strong upper pulling power.

The cam is starting to grow on me. Real soft bumpy even idle (still a tad rough but doesn't jump all over the place). I street race on a regular basis so since the 6.0L is a small motor, I need to wind it up to get the pulling power I would expect. On the other hand for the other 80% of the driving I do, I would like to see a smaller cam and how it would work on my setup. My recommendation to you is this: If you're going to have the low compression LQ4 and not bump the compression up, you need a smaller cam than I have or you will have crappy brakes, rough irratic idle, and dead low end throttle response. Nothing wrong with the LQ4 but I'm just saying. I would recommend to you if you are going with a TBSS converter and everything else in your sig is accurate the Vinci 062 ASP Kicker cam. 210/218 duration cam in your truck with the mild converter should have a nice broad powerband, keep good cylinder pressure, a tough snorty idle, and give you about as much torque as a 6.0L can deliver in its stock form.
