I only saw 1 video on youtube of the Trutorq lvl 1 and it was in a LQ9 bored to a 370 with heads.

I don't believe that adding lift will have much affect on your curve, but will allow for higher peak horsepower numbers. Duration and LSA are the big players in determining where your curve begins and ends. If you're leaving the heads stock, I'd think that .550 to .575 would be nice.

Oh yeah that is one of their newer cam lines. I guess they recommended that for you because of the 5.3 swap and the fact that you have manual transmission. Did you bring up that you are worried about a smaller cam getting old real quick? If so that is another reason why they probably recommended that one which is bigger.

am i that easy to read? yeah, he said it wouldn't be a problem with the manual trans & it'd be even better than the specs on the website because those were from an LS1. he also said for a 5.3, it'd have power from off-idle to somewhere around 6500 (i can't remember exactly) & be right about the same as stock in the bottom end, which would help when getting the bigger tires & towing the car. i'm also tempted to drop it to a 113-114ish LSA just to get a little more lope... hey, it's a cam swap!he first suggested the CheaTR v3 - 219/230 .601/.604 117, but i don't really need the extra help on the exhaust side & it sounds almost stock.
he did laugh, though, when i told him that i don't wanna go too small because with a vette on 8psi, even a decent cam in the truck ain't gonna feel like much

ps - does anybody have a vid of the TRuTorq Lvl1 in a 5.3? all i could find was that 370 as well

I run the 216/220 low lift in my ls1 and make just shy 300rwtq @ 2500rpm so i dont think your gonna anything down low..

How about the Vinci Trucker? It's 216/224 .551/.551 115, and has proven to make great power in both 5.3's and 6.0's. I'm sure that it would do great in a 4.8 also. NickD posted a dyno graph of the Trucker in a 6.0 and it had almost the same powerband as a 212/218 in a 5.3, only with bigger numbers.

I wouldn't go any higher than the trutorq lvl1 imo, now if you didn't care about towing you could go up just a tad higher. You gotta stop somewhere though lol.
Stick with the TruTorq level 1 at max.
Also what budhayes3 recommended (vinci 216/224 .551/.551 115) would be good.
If you got the Vinci cam with its lower lift, all you would need is the LS6 Yellow springs off Texas-speed.com for $79.99 which are good up to .570 lift. Those Yellow LS6 springs are now discontinued, but they still have them in stock at some stores. They would also be good for the life of the engine probably as they are not aftermarket springs. If you go with aftermarket springs, sooner or later you will have to replace the springs 30-50K miles depending on several factors, aggressive cam ramp rates, abuse, etc..
Just something else to think about.
