Default cold air kit + N20 = SES light, MAF questions

i put the K&N FIPK along w/ one of those stupid little VR tb velocity stacks (dont waste your money) on my truck the other night, noticed a small gain...wasnt expecting much.

ive got a dry nitrous system, the Compucar bottle in a bag deal. i was using it w/ the stock air box, spraying into a descreened MAF, no problems. only once every month or so it'd set the SES light while on the bottle.

well, put on the K&N kit, got another MAF (stock w/ the screen), drilled the end of the air filter for the nitrous line. it is aimed directly at the MAF. thought everything was good. well now just about every time i hit the bottle the SES light comes on.
when running on motor everything is fine.

im thinking the screen in the MAF is not a good thing w/ a dry nitrous system like mine, what yall think? maybe its freezing it quicker b/c of the screen blocking the flow and setting the code. i dont want to rip the screen out and that not be the problem and i dont have my old one that i can put back on to try.

anyone ever run into this before? someone here has to know! if this crap keeps up, the Edelbrock 4 bbl. intake is looking awful tempting. throw a 650 double pumper and a plate system on it

and could somone please clear this up for me.......is there any problem w/ injecting the nitrous downstream (after) the MAF?
thanks yall, CHIP

litreddevil.......hows that cam idle in your truck? does it have a pretty good lope? that cam is on a 114 LSA right? i want a grind that sounds lumpy at idle, the lumpier the better, but not be a PITA on the street. im considering either the GM hot cam or the 216/220 Comp. im leaning towards the hot cam b/c its on a 112 LSA instead of 114.
my "street car" has a 266 at fifty solid roller im not very good at picking a cam for a daily driver, lol.

anyone else have any ideas on my original questions? CHIP

ok snake eater had this problem he simply took the maf off where it mounts now and mounted it directly to the throttle body. this way the n2o has time to warm up kinda before it gets to the maf to freeze it and it not a dirrect spray to the maf

he must have completely removed his fan shroud? i had to cut mine to install the K&N tube. if i cram another 4" or so of MAF right there itll be damn near hitting the radiator, or has he got his turned perpendicular to the TB? so i'd have to hack up the K&N tube.

funny, this problem wasnt near as bad w/ the stock air box setup. the nitrous "nozzle" was just as close the MAF then as it is now.

im gonna play w/ it some tomorrow, see what i can come up with. its raining here right now. i think this little 5.3 would look kinda cool w/ a Holley on it CHIP

I have e-fans so i didnt have to worry about space. I think i have a pic or two of the maf on the TB. My N2O is in the middle of the intake tube. The soleniod is directly connected to the tube and I am running all 1/4" N2O line so i can move more. With a 225 dry shot I havent had it freeze up on me yet the way its installed.

Just go to Autozone or something and get 2-14" fans. The whole setup may run you $150. Or do what 4.8T did and get one off a car at the junk yard for $5. LOL
