While there are numerous coil pack numbers (depending on year, driver's side, passenger's side, etc) I don't think that there is any major difference that anyone has come across or anything that has been definativley proven. I know MSD makes and Coil but I don't what benefit it will provide unless you are running high compression or have a boost or nitrous application. These things are NOT for the budget minded...last I check they were around $48 / coil at my cost ....I think list was something like $69 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

The truck ones are round (mine are at least) and I THINK the car ones are more square but internally they are probably the same.

Not sure exactly what you're after, but here's some info:
The car coils are all made by Nippondenso.

The square, flat truck coils are made by Mitsubishi ELectric COmpany (trade name MELCO).

Thr round truck coils are made by Delphi, the GM spinoff company. When I left Delphi engineering a couple of years ago, I think the truck coil production spread was about 65% Melco, 35% Delphi.

They all have about the same performance. The 2 truck coils are electrically interchangeable; the Denso coils on the cars use a different 4-way connector.
