Default "Clunk" in the rear end

Well its just like it sounds, I have a big clunk in the rear end. Whenever I am going over a bump at low speeds I hear a clunk....sounds like my axle is hitting the bumpstops but that's not the case....I got under there yesterday to see if everything was tight and it was, but my axle rotates about an inch and a half whenever I move it back and forth....also looked at the bushings in the leaf springs and they are dry rotted. So could that be my problem?the leaf springs? Oh, and it makes a bad squeaking noise whenever I hit the gas, from the leaf spring bushings. Like metal on metal contact...this all started when my father was trailoring a boat back from the Keys with it and the transmission fluid line coming from the tranny cooler popped off and spewed tranny fluid over everything....had it checked out and it was fine but now I get the clunk and the squeaking....any suggestions would be appreciated, cause all this is doing is getting worse. Thanks.

Pete
