Default Charging questions??

My battery wont charge.... I went and bought a new ALT and put it on and my battery still wont charge its running off the battery and ive checked everything all wires are good and tight. Any ideas its got to be a wire or something electrical. Any help. Is there a fuse for the ALT??? I couldnt find one.
