Default "CAT" Removal effect performance?

Alright, I wasn't sure where to put this so i hope this section of the forum is alright....my friend has a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 (extended cab) and i'm not sure what exactly happened but his 'CAT' ended up heatign up so bad it f-ed it up and they gutted it....and i looked under his truck and noticed he's got sensors before and after the 'CAT'.

I know on my 'turd Camaro i have the OBDII (or whatever they're called) sensors before and after the "CAT" and if i remember correctly gutting the "CAT" would effect your AFR, or send bogus signals to the PCM and make the car run bad...

So FINALLY lol my question is....Would his truck do the same thing that mine would do?

If so, what do you reccomend doing?
We've thought of a high performance cat but it's got a really weird exhaust set up so it would require a y-pipe/y-collector first. =/

Or do they make sensor trickers like they have for my vehicle?

Orrrr....Does it not matter at all and it's fine as is?

Thank you for your time!
Anthony

The rear O2 should just throw a code. Its the front one that adjust timing, fuel etc. He should be good. Not sure how to get the light to go off on a Dodge though.

yeah the rear O2 will just throw a code. The front ones is what deterimines the proper A/F ratio. But I have no idea on how to delete the light on those.
