Default carbon fiber block off plates

I have a thick peice of carbon fiber 1/4" thick, and I was considering making an egr block off plate with it. This would be mounted on the header egr connection pipe on my flowtech headers. Can CF handle the heat or should I go with steel?

Stick with steel, the heat will cause the resin in the carbon fiber to melt.

Unless you use some kind of crazy epoxy resin, it will most certainly be destroyed. Besides a 0.25" plate of carbon fiber=$$$ Then you'd have to drill 2 holes through it to mount it. Not good.

I got it for free. It is a 2.5x2' peice scrap with some things cut out of it here and there. Still a lot of room to make some cool stuff and it looks great. That's why I hack it up and try to use it whenever I get the chance.
