i am going to ask this in a couple of areas and i though i would see what you guys think.
i have a nx kit on the way, i think the motor can take it(6psi+50shot) for awhile but i am wonder what part will fail first if i ever push it harder. i will not let it run out of fuel. i have a fuel presure gauge and a wide band. i will increse power in small steps, log everything, if i run out of fuel pump i will stop and fix that problem. i will not let it detonate, i will log that and keep my knock sensors active, add better gas as required to keep out of detonation.
so what will break if i keep uping the boost/nitrous. will i pop a head gasket, spin a bearing, break a pistion? anyone have a guess?

jmo: i think you will lift a head or spin a bearing.
but then again i dont know if lifting a haed only has to do with high boost aps. i dont know lets find out <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I agree on the head gasket or spun bearing. Another possibility is a rod bolt letting go. The stock LQ4 has plain cast pistons which aren't as strong as a the LS1's hypereutectic piston. I would think the cast piston would break easier. I guess it all depends on how much cylinder pressure is really being made and how many rpms you are taking it to.

I think:
1) Could have some detonation if you run it too aggressive, lift a head slightly, and we have head bolts that stretch. Most hydraulic'd motors are due to stretched headbolts IMHO.
2) Rod bolt issue I see more of a high rpm issue.

From everything ive read the pistons are weak link in the short block. Ive heard of pistons giving up more than anything. (especially the #7)
