Can I get a better/lounder sound that my striaght pipes?
#1
Well right now I have manifold/ 2 cats/ y into one pipe/ y into 2 pipes/ tips. I have enjoyed the sound for awile now, but it is time for a change. Right now it has a slight break (not quite a pop though) in it when it. I would like to make it more constatant, and louder. Is there any way I might could tweak the setup any, run the pipes differently??

If I loose the cats though, it will just pop more. I would like it to be more of a constant sound with no breaks in it. I am confused, surely there is some way to do it. I know if I dump the 2 Ys I am going to have major popping issues. Anybody heard a stock SSR? Thats the type of sound I want, just allot louder.

on my ss i have gutted cats and no mufflers with the same setup as minus they y pipe(x pipe instead) and then the two pipes dumped near the rear of the truck, and when i let off the gas, it pops very nicely and loudly i must say.

I have the same set up but with an electric cut out, i like the way that sounds, and just yesterday i dumped the exhaust right after the mufflers with turn downs. So i was opening and shutting the cut out on the road and it sounds pretty nice with the cut out open and the turn downs at the muffler. but it does pop
***edit*** i just re-read and saw you have no muffler, get a set of longtubes

I think the popping can be tuned out... It would probably require you to do the tweaking yourself...
Maybe you get away with ditching the cats and running some of those "Sweet Thunder" chambered tubes? I haven't heard anything called a muffler, louder, cleaner, meaner, than those things.
