Default Cams and Emission testing

Anybody ran into problems passing the sniffer test. Our county should be gettin emissions testing here soonand Id hate to install a cam and it fail the test.

As long as you keep duration under 220 and LSA over 112 you should pass a sniffer test fine.....asuming the tester doesn't hear/care about the slightly rough idle

Are they even going to sniff? Most 96 and newer only get the PCM hooked up checking for codes and "not readies". Mine passed (no sniff) with a 4.8 running a 212/218 522/529 114 and NO custom tunning.

iIve heard that there will be a sniffer and that ther wont be.

GREGGO, im lookin at the same cam that you have. I just passed one up cheap cause i was slow to the draw Does it have a noticable lope through the exhaust?

i have a 216-220-525-532-114 and it passed. they did not hook a sniffer to it. all they do is hook to the pcm.

not a bad one but yes it does have a lope it sounds pretty damn good if you ask me

I just smoged my 383 with this cam with 50 miles on the truck on the smog dyno it passed a tad higher than a stock 5.7 would put out with a stock cam but still with plenty of room. James B. also had the same cam for a while installed in his 350 SC Tahoe and it passed about the same readings.
