. Anyway i got 282hp/278ftlbs. not bad, had CAI, tb spacer, corsa, diablo sport(some crappy tuning while i was there), yellow Z06 valve springs. I then advanced the cam and added JBA shorties(stockers leaking got them cheap) and 160 stat. used a rollmaster adjustable dual row timing set. I decided to go 4 degrees advanced and got rid of the diablo sport and went for custom dyno/street tune from one of our sponsors. I got 284.5hp/285.25ftlbs in 2nd gear, third gear saw 267hp and 292ftlb. The killer was what the power band looked like, tourque was right off the bottom, about 270ftlb at 3000rpms. peak about 4200-4300.The cam pulled right to 6000 no problem. I was making peak tourque til about 5000rpm with no advance. Even with out the tuning i felt the lower end right in the seat of the pants
. maybe this could clear up some cam talk, i wondered what i could have had with LT's, ORY, UD pullys. I later put on some e-fans.

This is a good thread, I'd like to keep it towards the top
I run a 224/227 .576/.588 113+3 in my truck and on a nitrous tune, and street tires (2.0-2.1 60's) it went 13.6@100... I'm sure with slicks and a motor tune it would have been damn near 12's thats how badly I was spinning...
Shifting at 6300 RPM, may not be ideal for these intakes but you have to consider where your shift extension puts you after the shift. If you're talking about track performance, this plays a big part...
HUGE durations arent great for these little motors, Track times already prove that, but you have to find a happy medium with your setup in order to make everything work together they way it should. This is a great thread, but there are a ton of variables.

I'm finally getting close to ordering my cam. I plan on trying a different approach. I'm going to use the standard tr220, but I'm going to use the 115 or 116 lsa. I would run the smaller comp cam, but I'm lazy and cheap so the matched kits offered by the sponsors appeal to me. This is a total DD so I'm looking for a broad curve and smooth idle hence the wide lsa, helps emissions too. Then I also plan to install it 4* advanced, which should move the powerband down. I'll do a shift kit and see how this works. I know a yank 2600 will be in my future, but I'm curious to see if the bottom end is ok. I'm not looking for great 60' times, just a fun truck.

How many extended cabs are hitting mid 13's n/a? Check out AdrenalineP's mod list and look at his time.....with a ZO6 Cam!

Do you think he'd be running a 12's if he had let's say a 224/224 .581 lift? I honestly don't know. Hell he's only .4 away from the fastest n/a 5.3L ecsb and a better tune could easily make that time up.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I am saying that some of the fastest n/a 5.3L truck on here are running tr220's and smaller.
