0.350 lift lobe will be the limit unless you want to nail the stock link bars go right ahead. It's pretty much worthless to cam a balance shafted 4.3.
Even HotRodMag ditched the plan on the balance shaft engine and did an earlier I think 89 or so 4.3.
Older versions are odd fires 96 and up are even fire. Crank is diffrent along with some other things.

So i guess its better the keep the stock cam on a 4.3?
My friend has a 98 rcsb 4.3 vortec with cai intake, exhaust, 2600 stall, servos and wheatley tune and i got to say i was very impressed when i rode with him one day.
We were wondering how much of a diff. A cam and headers would do on it?

I don’t know about being worthless and while you wouldn’t go with anything over .350 lobe lift or .525 valve lift, the heads will give up way before that anyway. GM used to offer two cams for the even-fire 4.3’s, I don’t even know if they are actually even available any more, but they were (part # 10051147) 222/222 .447/.447 114 and the other was (part # 10134321) 224/224 .450/.460 112. The 1st was listed as a V6/90 version of the old L79 small block cam for use in the 4.3L even-fire engine. The 2nd was listed as a high performance street and marine cam for use in the 4.3L even-fire engine. We are talking about cams here that were designed quite a few years ago, so I’m sure that while they would work decent even if they are still available, I would imagine that there are more current technology cams available. Of course the market isn’t the best for these animals, so technology may not be moving forward for them much. You may find one of the GM cams setting on a shelf somewhere if they are no longer listed new.
