Default Cam Swap suggestions

hey their just wanted to hear some suggestions. so i installed a cam not too long ago and i cant say im not happy because i am. felt a great improvement truck doest feel like it flys but its sure much quicker. after the install i started hearing how everyone has a bigger cam and mine is a baby cam. how everyone has a 6 liter and i have a 5.3 so here are my plans im currently looking for an lq9 but i would like to change my cam out for something that would be good on my 5.3 and would do the job on my 6.0.. any suggestions.. i was told to do something with a 590 lift and lsa of around 112 for torque. please comment.. thanks..

a 3600 rpm or looser converter would do the trick.

A TR224 or something similar should work in the 5.3 and the 6.0 Personally I like something with a little more lift. Check out the TSP224

i think you should stall it before you swap the engine. i have the smallest converter yank makes and my truck is a rocket ship now.

Its kinda free power. It opens the valves further allowing more flow. Its a free way of installing higher ratio rocker arms.

I would put a stall before a changing the cam again
Get it in the powerband faster so it can pull!
What are you trying to get out of it? goal wise?
Small baby cams can work with the right combonation
Mine performs pretty good for what it is

well i was told not to change stall that it was pointless with my low lift cam. so i kind of got dissapointed..lol and well im looking to have a fast truck just like everyone else. my eigth of a mile was a 7.65 and my 1/4 i havent tried. i want it to be under 14 but everyone also has to know that im much heavier then the 2wd models since i have a 4x4.. i have seen ppl with the tsp 224r cam and a 3000 stall have had great result thought that might be the way to go.. what do you recommend slow n low 4.8

I must have overlooked the converter (or lack thereof) do you have a converter right now? If not, thatd definatly be the first thing Id do. especially if youre thinking of a larger cam later. Youre going to need at least 3000 with a 224/224 in a 5.3, and itll be even better with the 6.0.

If youre going to stay with the "baby" cam you have now, a 2600-2800 would make a huge improvement

the 2500 is in rt now but im still not happy. may b do 4.10 gears? i only go thru first and second on the 1/4 mile may b i do need more gear. and if i do cam im doing 3000 stall for sure. will that make a noticable difference from the baby cam i have rt now?
