Cam question for 99silveradoss
#1
hey 99silveradoss, I have a 99' 5.3L sierra and I've been looking into cams. I want more hp but don't want to hurt my fuel economy because I drive approx 60 Hwy. miles five days a week and I can't have bad gas mileage. What cam would you recomend for me (corvette ls6 cam?)? I would prefer a cam that gives at least 20hp and doesn't require any other mods just a straight swap and won't screw up my valve springs or rockers over time. I have the HPP3 would this effect the cam? Also is it hard to swap a cam yourself with ordinary hand tools, basically a "do it yourself job"?Any info will help. thanks a lot.

I would also like to know this....gas mileage is not a problem though. I would just like to keep my low & midrange in the powerband cause I don't want a converter.
