You need to take the cam to someone with a cam doctor and they can tell you what it is. You can also check it in a engine with a degree wheel, and a dial indicator.

Yup for sure! He has been great about this whole thing. I am not worried at all. If we find out this is not a 228R I am 100% sure he will do whatever to make things right.

Thanks guys.
Its just confusing, cause of matching, and then non-matching.
If neither matched, we would know.

Now we just need to figure it out so I can get another cam Ive had my eyes on, but waited to buy for the DD, lols.

I would bet it is the 228, that is engraved by hand and im sure the operator just had a mistake...the cam card serial matches the one on the cam...im sure it's just a simple mistake on the engraver's part. But to be sure I would call and have them check the serial number in their system.

That's good news (my guess is that it was the 228...I was looking forward to seeing what it was)

Yup Comp cam said that the serial number on the cam related to a 228R. After I told them the situation (numbers on cam vs numbers on card) they siad odds are it is a 228R but they couldn't say for sure givem the wrong part number on the cam. They said the only way to tell for sure is to have the cam checked. So I am sending the cam out to confirm for sure.

Again, Modern_Muscle has been great about this whole thing and has stood by his sale. He has even offerd to refund a few dollars in order for me to send the cam out to get checked. I can't say enough good things about this seller!
