Default Cam question

I am looking at two vinci cams.

The 043 model:

DUR @ .050" 210*/ 218*
LIFT .531/.531
OVERLAP 48*
LSA 114*

Description - POWER RANGE 1700 TO 6000
PROVIDES HIGH TORQUE, MODERATE LIFT, LONG VALVE SPRING LIFE
LIGHT CHOPPY IDLE

and the 112 (new) model:

DUR @ .050" 210*/218*
LIFT .551 / .551
OVERLAP 50*
LSA 114*
Description - POWER RANGE 1700 TO 6000
PROVIDES VERY HIGH TORQUE GAINS
GOOD THROTTLE RESPONSE - LOADS OF "TORQUE" - HIGH LIFT
LIGHT CHOPPY IDLE

Notice that the only things that vary are the overlap and the lift. Are there any SOTP differences (significant) between these cams? I guess what I am saying is is the 112 model enough of a bigger cam to warrant choosing it over the 043 model?

And a more important question is better for Transmission life?

those cams shouldn't affect transmission life any differently. they are both and increase in power and will have your trans take one more step towards the grave.. get a little bigger stall and a big trans oil cooler and you should be ok.

How does a higher stall HELP tranny life? I kinda figured that doing that would push it futher toward the grave.

blackout, the second one sounds like a good cam.
a higher stall will reduce tranny life.

I am really trying to convince myself that I DON'T need a new tranny. I think that I am gonna go with the first cam. Its got lower lift, but I can use LS6 springs, and its not a brutal cam, I think I'll be able to get away with it. I don't drive the truck nearly as much as I used to (I travel alot for work), so I think the stock TC and tranny should survive for a good while. I already have the biggest universal tranny cooler that NAPA makes, so I think I should be okay...am I lying to myself?

LS6 springs are good to about .570 lift, the LS6 cam has a .551 aswell so I wouldnt hesitate to get the second cam for the extra power, and if possible I would get it on a 112LSA...

How does the LSA affect the powerband and driveability of the cam. I have read several stickies on it, I just can't retain it all that well.

The lower the lsa, the quicker the power/torque comes in...

Also, higher LSA's work better for forced induction. If you're going NA, go wtih a 114 or 112lsa. The lower the LSA, the choppier the idle, and the more power down low you have.

Also look at the Comp Cams 212/218. It's a nice all around cam for anything from a RCSB to a Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban. I would suggest getting a stall regardless. You'll like it
