Default Cam Question??

Has anyone notice any loss in low end when switching from a stock 5.3 cam into a SS silverado cam/Ls1 cam... I just want to know what to expect when I waist time doing this project.

You would not loose any low end. There is not much of a difference between them.

The reason i asked is cause, ...well...i think im right, when i say that the LSA being a higher number instead 114 its 116 and i thought that meant my power band starts a little higher than it does on the 114 but i could be way off im really more or less just guessing.

Larger LSA means a wider powerband with less peak, it does not move it anywhere. Larger duration moves the powerband up the RPM scale. So, for example, if you have two 212/218 cams, one on a 114 LSA and one on a 116 LSA, the 114 LSA cam would have slightly more peak power and a slightly narrower powerband, while the 116 LSA cam would have a slightly wider powerband with slightly less peak power.

So you're swapping out a 190/191, .457/.466, 114 LM7 cam for a 196/207, .467/.479, 116 LQ9 cam, is that correct? Are you planning new springs?

Is the cam free? You should see a little improvement, but not that much. You sure you want to do that much work for just a little gain?

You won't have any loss down low....with a 5.3L you're good up to 206/212 or so.

Z06 springs will be fine with that cam. Keep us posted as to how it goes!
