OP,

We have a couple of camshafts in mind for this build.

One would be our Pro LS Truck stage 1 high lift SUM-8719. Specs on this are .550/.550, 209/217, 112+1. This will have the off-idle torque you're looking for while towing. It will also have a very good mid-range and good top-end. With -10 overlap it will be great for driveability and efficiency. If you're towing more than 50% of the time of the trucks use we would go this route for your combo. A spring upgrade is required with this cam. It works well with budget-friendly LS6 NAL-12499224 springs.

Another option would be our Pro LS Truck stage 2 high-lift SUM-8720. Specs on this are .600/.600, 218/227, 112+2. This will give up off-idle torque for a great mid-range and top-end. With -1 overlap it won't be a problem for a daily and have good driveability. If you find your self towing less than 50% of the time of the trucks use we would go this route for your combo. A spring upgrade is required with this cam. The PAC 1218's pair well and keep the valvetrain stable. We carry them through Trickflow TFS-16918-16.

For changing the springs out, you're going to need a valve spring compressor tool. You can use TFS-90306 with the heads on.

Since this is an LY5 it would have AFM/DOD. That would need to be deleted using any aftermarket 3 bolt cam. We offer kits to help accomplish this task. If this has PCV then you would need CMB-09-0031. If it doesn't have PCV then you would need CMB-09-0030. These kits come with MLS head gaskets, valley plate, non-DOD lifters and guides, head bolts, water pump gaskets, and a harmonic balancer bolt.

oh come on now we all cant have a sexy beast just sitting and not put it to work lol

even tho i have a f350 diesel i left the hitch on my 04 rcsb for lighter towing duty's around town for things like my bike trailer and towing my car to the track (that way i can run my truck once i 6.0 swap it) lol

OP what kind of towing are you doing? local? long distance? loaded weight? daily? few times a year?
