Default cam install question

Im trying to install a cam in my 99 Silverado w/ 4.8L and cannot find the two holes to slide the rods in that hold up the lifters. I did a cam swap on my ls1 and this is not the same for some reason. Any help would be appreciated.

I just did a cam swap on my 6.0l and I used the pen magnet method, and it worked perfectly. LS1howto.com has the rod method like you were talking about doing on your Camaro. Check out that website if you need help.

They are exactly where they were on your LS1 I promise. It will be those holes on both side of the cam passageway. If all else fails put the pushrods in spin the cam a few times and see if they fall down. If they dont pull the pushrods and spin the cam a few more times pull it and put the new one in.

Question

Where do you get these pen magnets?? My local auto parts stores only have the magnet pen that is just a sole antannee looking pen.
I was told the ones needed have a clip to hold them up. Anyone sell them as a set of 16? Where do I get that many of them if not?

Jim

The ones that look like an antenna will work.

The pen magnets do look like an antenna. They do also have a clip, but they would work either way. I bought 16 at Orliely's for like $60 and then took them back and got my money back when I was done!
