There was a good thread about the ls1's and breaking springs like no tomorrow in the internal engine section. It was something about the retainer and locks. Someone is making a new setup that will help keep them in check. You might talk to them. I know Patriot had something to do with it, but they weren't the ones that were producing them nor doing the R&D. You might talk with Terry at Patriot and see what he can tell you about that.

As far as the pushrod stuff .... most smaller lift cams have the same base circle, like up to .535 I know does. I wanna say that it takes one hell of a lift to go 2 sizes down in base circle, like .690 or something sick like that.

As for that cam .... Destop Dyno says it's gonna be a torque monster but will be short on hp and even more offset on the tq/hp on the big motor. That is NA of course. Everything I've heard, you want a longer exhaust duration on an FI engine to give time for all the cramed in exhaust gases to get the hell out. I'm still not much on cams ... I just know what I want, and it's nothing near that big. You might call up CompCams and talk to them about it. They seem to be pretty helpful. They have a cam help line just for stuff like that.

No, on SC cars you want a longer exhaust, on Turbos, they normally prefer recerse split like Parish cam or single pattern cam. Springs have been breaking often it seems, I broke a couple on my ARE heads and found it it was due to the spring manufacturer having problems. Replaced them and all has been good so far. Anything with close to .600 lift, its gonna good lifters and springs. I am gonna be running dual springs when my 346 and TT come for my vette. Gonna upgrade my truck ones as well with Roller rockers and springs. With big HP, talking to a few people they recommend raplcing the springs every so often. Hope to maybe get rid of this ATI and get the Cmotorsports kit. Seth is a great guy

I'm going with Comp 978s as an upgrade for my cam TEA said they would be more durable. They also said I would need Comp R lifters to use these springs.

i just talked to seth again, he said the springs are from a local company, hmm, he likes them better than the 918's. the number is EX616, the name of the company is EX. he also said they are fine with stock lifters and pushrods.

looks like i will be going with the local 6.0, it has 50k on it.

so 50k 6.0, big cam, springs, head studs, tuning, no cats, cut out, restall, nitrous with no lean spike. whats it going to pull? then turbo soon after and fuel pump. parts are going to fly. if i blow up this motor i will have no choice but to run the 4.8 and be somewhat carefull with it. prety much broke now for awhile.
