Not much difference, honestly. A 3000 stall converter doesn't necessarily flash at 3000 rpm. It can flash a little higher.

With a street truck, I worry about too much low end. Roasting your tires while leaving a little hard from a red light gets old quick.

I think you're doing it right though. You should run the converter before the cam swap. That will help you decide on what size cam to run.

So would you guys think the 3000 stall and 220 cam with long tubes will work good together?

Choices, choices! lol im going thru the same as you. I had my truck basically untouched until i paid it off. Started reading forums and now im here haha. To me so far the mod ive noticed the most has been my circle d 3-3200. Best $400 i ever spent. This is my dd so it fits perfect with my driving style. My lts are going in this w/e so im anxious to see what that brings. Once i drive that for a few months ill see what cam direction i want to go.

I think more often than not it seems people wish they had went higher on the stall than downgrading.

I think it's gonna be lazy till 3500 when the power comes in like you flipped a switch

Get board search my threads I ran the 212/218,tr220 and the z06 cam in my 5.3.
Threads on them all with track times

Also I switched to circle d 3200 from a yank tt3000 and couldn't duplicate previous times ran on the yank .

212/218 was the best all around cam
It had power all over no waiting for it to come in.

Man plan has always been a 212/218
But i was wanting something with a choppy idle thats why i was looking at the 220r
Im sure with a little tuning i can get the 212 to sound decent at idle
Would you still run a 3000 convertor with the small 212 cam?
