Default Cam for 2500hd with tvs 1900

I'm getting ready to install a tvs 1900 on my 02 2500hd lq4. Thinking I may as well do a cam, lifters, springs and rap head bolts. I'd like it to have a nice chopper idle but I'm looking for the most power from 2000-5800 rpm. Also how much will I be able to make with the stock 317 heads?

Nah... it aint a blower cam. It's a turbo cam.

I would spec something that looks fairly drastically different.

You can make over 600 at the tires in that RPM range with the right cam and good fuel with a 1900. If you wanted more RPM you could make more power. No need for different heads with what you want.

Meh, more people should try different setups to see the outcome. It would still make good power even with a blower.

Be different.

Is that with 317 heads or something bigger? I just figure the stock high mileage short block would like me a lot more if I kept the rpm range there. Right now i don't want to go beyond what the injectors that come with the 1900 will handle. I'm definitely considering meth. If it makes it safer.

While I agree with you on a lot of those points... there really isnt any need to experiment here.

the triple 12 will make more power than stock, it may be audible in a 6.0, and I do like to see different set ups. But when talking about a blower cam vs a turbo cam its pretty cut and dry. You want a blower cam for a blower.

Didn't Martin already try this on dozens of customer vehicles? He's provided many examples of what doesn't work already. Task: complete.

Will it make good power? Sure. But there are a lot better valve events to make even better power at the same boost level. You say more people should try different setups but yet your advocating a generic cam spec for two completely different setups and needs. The triple 12 is a great cam for its intended purpose, but that purpose isn’t a 6.0 with a positive displacement blower. So many people default to a given cam spec because they don’t understand valve events and their effect on power delivery in a given setup.

It's called Copy and Paste Syndrome...

So and so made good power so it should work for this application...
