Default is a c5 cam a big upgrade for a 5.3 truck motor?

i got an 04 c5 cam really cheap...was going to drop it in my ls1 but ive heard they dont do much for the f-body ls1s so i might drop it in my 99 silverado.
Will it work?
Is the swap worth it/how much hp?
Any need to change the springs/lifters?
thanks

It will fit but doesn't the C5 have the ls1 enigne. It will do as good as an ls1 cam which is not much.

yea...apparently the newer c5s are slightly better than the 98-00 f-bodys. I kind of bid on it on ebay before I knew this.

it depends.. if that cam has 117-118 then its gonna suck from dead stop... should fly when you are above 5200 rpms though

I have a 00 vette cam here, but i doubt I install that since its 115.5 and the stock trucks are 114

I value my low end power to much

aparrently those are the numbers on the end of the cam. I assumed that the newer vettes would have ls6 cams! Doesnt make any sense to me

they should have a ls6 type cam.. i dunno the exact specs but the new c6's are just like the 01-02 z06's I believe..

those cams were 116(01ls6) and 117-118(02-03 stye).. the 01 ls6 cam mad elike 25-30 hp on a members truck here, but that was allllll upper end power.. untill you got above 4000 rpms the truck sucks Good for 60mph roll racing.. but not good for dead stop heavy truck racing. Thats why i just opted to hold onto mine and try to get a custom 114 grind cam so i can have good low end. But I have a 4x4 so its a lil different goals for me

My list only goes up to 2003 so cannot verify the number you gave ( not on my list at all )
The LS6 cam is ONLY in the Z06 model Vettes, not the "regular" C5 which has the old F-body LS1 style cam in it.
The 2001 Z06 cam made slightly less top end but better bottom end. The 2002+ models are so-so for us truck guys, too much lost on the low end but will scream on top and still pass emissions if needed. The smaller LSA is better on the bottom.
Not to say you got taken but the seller hyped the description a little, but did not lie tho....
