Angry A/C Belt Removal

HOW IN THE NINE HELLS DO YOU REMOVE THE A/C BELT ?????

The A/C belt is squeeling so I decided to change it this morning......even with the tensioner all the way down it STILL won't fit over the crank OR A/C pulley because the tensioner itself is in the way !!!!!.....the only way I can see to remove the belt is to remove the crank pulley !!!!

GM usually has good designs but this one SUCKS *** !!!!!

It's a lot easier working from below. You still have to remove serpetine belt first. It's a piece of cake to take off from below with a lift.

Try rolling it off the BACK of the crank pulley first with the tensioner unloaded. That will give you enough slack to undue it from the A/C pulley. Then just slide it off the crank pulley.

Yeah....I just wish I had a lift

I did remove the fan shroud and the serpentive belt, I clocked the tensioner as far as it would go and once I pulled the belt off the tensioner the angle of the belt was such that it stretched the belt along the side of the tensioner arm just enough that it wouldn't slip off either the crank or the a/c pulley

Just cut it off and buy a new one when you are ready to put it back on.

I bet you and parish8 like to fish with DYNAMITE don't you.....cut the belt off, sheesh.

If he knows how to take it off right it'll be that much easier to put back on.

That AC belt is a LOT more important in Death Valley than in
Omaha. Some how I don't believe cutting the belt and leaving it off is an option.
