Default Buying 6.0 would like advise/opinions

So I've been calling around most of the day trying to find a 6.0. To my surprise I actually found a bunch from 2000 to 2006.

1- 2006 lq9? unknow mileage. No accessories 900$ I got the vin
1GTHK24U16E156498 can anyone carfax it and get some info?

2. 2001 lq4 138,xxx. No accessories. 925$

3. 2000 lq4 100,xxx all accessories. 900

4. 2000 lq4 from suburban, 143,xxxx no accessories. 550$

My plans for the motor now are PRC 2.5 heads, V3 cam, Edelbrock pro flow or Holley. Haven't decided. Next winter I want to go 408.
I think if I find the 06 has really low miles I'll go with that, if not I'll do the lq4 from the suburban and refresh it with all new bearings. Will this be a plug and play for my 04 Silverado?

Next question... My 04 only has 4213 miles on it, so I planned on using the accessories from that since they are basically brand new. Will they work?

Thanks,
Jeff

4,213 miles?!

To answer your question, yes all your accessories will swap right over to the LQ4 assuming you have a 4.8/5.3.

Personally I would stay away from the pre2001 LQ4s. I know 99/00 have iron heads and I believe the longer crank which requires a different snout from your typical aftermarket torque converters. I'm not 100% sure on this but I thought I remember reading that 2001 had stronger rod bolts as well, someone correct me on this if I'm wrong (not referring to the 05+ with the floating rods).

I'd have a hard time pulling out an engine with that low of mileage and replacing it with one with 100,xxx that I don't know much history on.

HAHA, that's how I feel too! I wanted to find something local with as little miles as possible, but not finding anything. I've also heard of the longer cranks, but wasn't sure if it was an Internet myth.

Exactly. You haven't even put on enough miles to change the oil! Lol

I'd s/c it. Prob a whipple or tvs.

If you're going to do it no matter what, option 1. Id buy the car fax. And see if theyll let you do a leak down test. If the cylinders show good compression, and not from a flood vehicle, $900 is a good deal. The other three are boat anchors, performance wise.

Man, I'm not scared to dd my Silverado. But a 230s cam in a tank wouldn't be my first choice.

Run a 90mm stock truck intake. Only intake better is a fast, IMO.

I would have suggested sc as well but not everyone has $5,500~ to drop lol.

What engine do you have... 4.8 or 5.3?

What he's talking about doing will cost what a good used kit goes for. Maybe more. He's going to have to build up the transmission with either.

Did they put 4.8s in suburbans?

It's a 5.3. Not opposed to keeping it, just thought I'd start with something a little bigger. What are the 5.3's putting down with heads, cam, fast or other manifold?

ALL TRUE ^^^^.

id go with the lq9...good price that you cant go much wrong, newer, higher compression pistons, better rods. if youre planning to go stroker, can also take your time being the 5.3 has so low miles.

5.3 is plenty of cubes to have fun NA imo. A TR220 is a very proven cam in a 5.3, check out bluecajun5.3's rcsb.

Then build yourself a backup stroker
